I am a 26 year old veterinarian. I work with large animals, mostly cows. I love life, friends, farming, exercising/sport and art.
I was diagnosed with Hip Dysplasia 3 years ago only after pushing my doctors to find out what was wrong with me. I had been missed/misdiagnosed a number of times throughout my life, the most recent prior to my diagnosis was 2 years where the radiologist's report came back as 'anatomically normla. No injury or boney abnormality seen'. In 2012 it was found I had moderate-severe bilateral hip dysplasia and was staring down having total hip replacements on both sides in under 5 years unless I had the PAO performed.
So here I am now, exactly 12 months post my first PAO which was done on my right hip and I am about to go in for my second PAO (on my left) plus screw removal from the right in June. I am excited for the end result, and hoping that I can enjoy as many years as I can before having replacements.
